Build Decision Guide

Do not start with “is this item strong?” Start with “what problem does this match need solved?” This guide turns item type, timing, and alternatives into a simple decision loop.

1. Define the problem first

  • Are you missing sustain, survival, poke, burst, or rotation speed?
  • If the only answer is “it looks strong,” the question is probably too vague.
  • Check the latest patch page before assuming old logic still applies.

2. Match the category to the role

  • Weapon fits heroes that win through gun rhythm, sustained damage, and shot pressure.
  • Spirit fits heroes that convert spell cadence, contact windows, and ability pressure.
  • Vitality fits heroes that need access, survivability, sustain, or frontline contact.

3. Respect the timing window

  • Early items should immediately improve lane trades, not just look efficient on paper.
  • Midgame items usually bridge a real advantage into the next power tier.
  • Expensive late items feel best once your build identity is already clear.

4. Always keep an alternative

  • If an active item slows you down, switch to a lower-execution alternative.
  • If a cheaper item solves the problem now, take the cheaper item.
  • The item page's alternative section is your second build line.

A simple decision flow

Start with three questions

  • What is the actual bottleneck this game?
  • Can this item solve it now?
  • If not, is there a steadier alternative?

Recommended in-game order

  • Start in the item directory and narrow by category.
  • Open the item page and read best users, timing, and when not to force it.
  • Use recommended heroes and alternatives to sanity-check your call.
