Lane Basics

Learn how to trade, hold waves, and avoid the common lane mistakes that cost early pressure.

Applicable version: 07-01-2026

1. Start with trade windows

  • Do not eat free damage just to secure a last hit.
  • The goal is a favorable trade, not losing lane presence.
  • If the opponent is stronger, use distance and timing to slow their pressure.

2. Wave control beats random pushing

  • If you do not need to shove the wave, do not shove it.
  • Keeping the wave in a safe, stable spot is usually better than forcing hard pressure.
  • Only push when you are about to move or rotate.

3. Do not spend every tool at once

  • Lane skills are resources, not buttons to empty immediately.
  • Always keep one tool for escape, counterplay, or survival.
  • If your cooldown gap is long, avoid extended forced fights.

4. Common lane mistakes

  • Chasing too far and walking into the opponent's damage and wave.
  • Fixating on kills while ignoring wave state and positioning cost.
  • Backing off too early and giving away pressure for free.
